Wacky Khaki Party Week

Posted by: strathblane | March 27, 2009 | 4 Comments |

Well, what can we say…other than well done to P34.  We are so proud of every single one of you and all the hard work you have put in over the last 8 weeks.  The Big Task has been a very enjoyable learning experience for all of us.  It has been interesting to watch you develop so many vital skills throughout the task, in all areas!

Thank you to all the parents that came last night and have kept in touch with us through the blog.  Next week each team will have the opportunity to write about the wacky khaki party and also an individual piece of writing about the highs and lows of the topic.  Keep checking the blog for updates.

We will also be looking at the comments slips in more detail next week and collating all the information.  The children began this today and reading some of the lovely things people had said and also some of the improvements and suggestions.  For some children this was difficult but we will look at these comments in more detail next week and why people suggested these improvements.  Today (between clearing out cupboards, sweeping up sand, sand and more sand, treating a scarab beetle plague and carrying precious artifacts around) we had a lovely  circle time for the children to share some of the comments that their parents had made while exploring the tombs.  Lots of children couldn’t believe how much their parents enjoyed seeing their work.  It looked like everyone had a fantastic evening parents, children and teachers!

Thanks again to all the children for their hard work.  We are really very proud of you all. Have a great and relaxing weekend!

Love Miss Allen and Miss Carter

Dear P34, Miss Allen and Miss Carter,

I was very touched to be asked to the Whaky Khaki Party. Thank you very much indeed to whoever made my beautiful invitation. Sadly, I couldn’t attend due to a prior engagement but was delighted that I was able to visit and hear about all that you had been doing today.

Thank you P34, Miss Allen and Miss Carter for being so welcoming and for sharing your Egyptian experiences with me. I would also particularly like to thank Oli and Jamie M. who were my magnificent tour guides this morning.

I really enjoyed my tour of the Egyptian exhibition and was extremely impressed by all of the hard work that has been put in by both classes on this project. It was wonderful to see all of your work and to hear about your experiences and about the activities that you have undertaken together over the course of the time you have been studying Egypt together.

I have been amazed by the inventiveness of the project and love being able to read about your experiences on the blog.

Great teamwork! Well done to everyone.

Thank you P3 and P4 for a FANTASTIC Whaky Khaki party. I had never been to Egypt before, but I had a great time finding out all about it – I was so impressed by everybody’s hard work which was all amazing to look at and also very informative. My only mistake was enjoying a large glass of imaginary wine during the flight, as I forgot that I had left my car at the ‘airport’ and I had to drive home! Murray has also been baffling people by telling them he went to Egypt on Thursday on a singing plane!

Well done P34

You have made a super success of this project. I am really impressed by the way you kept your focus and motivation throughout.

You have produced some memorable work that benefited from being worked and reworked – and so…you produced ‘best work’.

I am very excited about all the possibilities that your skills can acheive.
